Seasoned REFORMISTAS, Camila Alire, Richard Chabran, Oralia Garza de Cortes, and Romelia Salinas will address challenges facing the Latino community at large and Latino librarianship on the following topics: Latino leadership in the profession, Latino digital Divide, services to children and Latinos in LIS schools.
Second part of the program will address the challenges facing Latino children and adults in two suburbs of Chicago: Aurora Public Library and Gail Borden Public Library. Panelists include Armando Trejo, Vita Ciraulo, Tina Viglucci, Tish Calhamer and Tina Birhkhoz

Reforma - Research Into Practice: Latino Perception of Public Libraries and their Public Library Use

In September 2008, WebJunction published a national study in partnership with the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute exploring Latino perception of libraries. The objective was to determine how Latinos perceive public libraries to better inform strategic planning and advocacy for library outreach to Latinos. Panelists will share the project overview, methodology, and results. Information about relevant research will also be presented along with best practices for utilizing research to inform strategic planning, advocacy, and outreach.
